Throughout the year, our church receives a variety of mission offerings to support the work of Baptists and other Christians across our country and around the world.
We receive two major offerings to support the missions endeavors of the Southern Baptist Convention:
- The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, which underwrites the ministry of the SBC's International Mission Board.
- The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, which supports the ministry of the SBC's North American Mission Board.
We also receive several offerings which assist the Baptist State Convention and its entities:
- The North Carolina Missions Offering, in September, supports the work of the convention, particularly with regard to evangelism, missions, and church planting. NC Baptists on Mission receive their entire budget from this offering, including their efforts in missions education and disaster relief.
- The Baptist Children's Homes Offering, often called the "mile of pennies", is received in November. This offering supports the work of NC Baptist Children's Homes, which provides care for children and youth whose parents are unable or unwilling to properly care for them. The Children's Homes provide both residential care and family support services.
- We also receive funds for the Benevolent Care Fund at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem (formerly known as NC Baptist Hospital) in May. These funds are used to help families who cannot pay for the medical treatments they need.
In March, we receive The Heck-Jones Offering to support the work of the WMU of North Carolina. Since 2008, WMU-NC has not received funds from the Baptist State Convention.
And, in January, we receive an offering to support the Albemarle Pregancy Resource Center, located in Elizabeth City. The resource center is a pro-life ministry providing counseling and concrete assistance to women and their babies in difficult circumstances.
